Lady T-Birds Wrap Up Home Season With Loss to Bobcats

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball wrapped up the 2018-19 home season Monday night with a 55-70 loss to Montana State on Senior Night.

Lone senior Breanu Reid was the leading scorer for the Thunderbirds with 21 points, one point short of her career high. She also had a season-high four steals, five assists, and three rebounds.

The Thunderbirds got off to a slow start in the loss, finishing the first quarter 3-for-11, including a 0-for-7 from three. They were outscored by the Bobcats 14-6.

Shots started to fall for the T-Birds in the following quarters as they scored 16 in the second and 14 in the third. Peyton Shepherd had nine points in the first half as she finished out the half with back-to-back threes.

The Bobcats used a 27-point third quarter to build a 23-point lead. They were 7-for-7 from three and only missed five total shots the entire quarter.

The Thunderbirds had their best of the quarter of night in the fourth as they outscored the Bobcats 19-12. Kiana Thomas and Reid combined for 13 points in the quarter. Thomas was 3-for-4 from the free throw line and pulled in three rebounds. They were able to cut MSU's lead down to 15, but could overcome the deficit.

The Thunderbirds will finish out the regular season Thursday night in Greeley, Colorado against Northern Colorado.
