CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah softball team dropped a single game matchup with BYU Tuesday afternoon 13-4 in six innings.

Dream Weaver and Kendall Kapitzke both had two hits in the game with Kapitzke picking up two RBIs and Weaver scoring twice. Hannah Williams hit a two-run home run in the game as well, bringing her total to three on the season.

The Thunderbirds found themselves down early as the Cougars scored four runs in the first inning. They would get one back in the bottom of the inning on a Kapitzke RBI single down the left field line.

The Cougars then build a 8-1 lead over the next three innings.

Williams hit her two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 8-3 and Kapitzke brought home another run in the fifth with a double to right center.

That would be the last time the Thunderbirds would score as the Cougars used a five-run sixth to make it 13-4 and end the game in six innings.

The Thunderbirds will get back to Big Sky play this weekend as they travel to Ogden for a three-game series with Weber State.
