CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team returns home this weekend for two matches at Thunderbird Soccer Field, hosting CSU Bakersfield on Friday September 20 and Boise State on Sunday September 22.
Last Time Out
Last week the Thunderbirds played their final non-conference road match, taking on Wyoming in Laramie. The Cowgirls used a goal in each half to take the 2-0 victory.
Goalkeeper Brianna Aldridge made 10 saves in the match, bringing her season total to 33, third best in the Big Sky.
The Thunderbirds are still looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first six matches.
Scouting Report: CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners (4-3-1)
The Roadrunners come into the weekend with a 4-3-1 record on the season. Two of their three losses have come at the hands of Big Sky opponents with a 0-1 loss to Idaho and a 2-3 loss to Eastern Washington.
CSUB has only played in one game so far this season where the final score was decided by more than one goal, a 2-0 win over Incarnate Word.
Eszter Toth is the leading scorer for the Roadrunners with three goals so far this season. Toth has done all of her scoring in just 302 minutes on the field.
Scouting Report: Boise State Broncos (6-1-0)
The Broncos are off to their best start in the history of the program, winning six of their first seven matches. Their only loss of the season came in double overtime against Utah.
BSU has beaten five different Big Sky teams already this season, allowing just two goals during those matches, both to Eastern Washington.
Senior Raimee Sherle is the leading scorer for the Broncos with five goals and three assists on the season. Sherle is a two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year winner and currently holds the conference record for career goals.
