CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Southern Utah and Dixie State Athletic Departments have announced a two-year, three-game men's basketball series between the two institutions as DSU makes the transition to Division I athletics.
The series will kick off this upcoming season, as the Trailblazers will travel to Cedar City to face off against the Thunderbirds in the America First Event Center on November 18, 2020.
The following year, the two teams will play a home-and-home series, with one game in Cedar City and another in St. George. Specific dates will be announced at a later time.
Southern Utah and Dixie State have not squared off in men's basketball since the early part of the 1960's.
When both programs were junior colleges, the two met on the hardwood during the 1962-63 season. The following year the T-Birds became a four-year institution, and the two teams have not played an official men's basketball competition since.
The Thunderbird men's basketball program has now announced four games on their 2020-21 slate, including road trips to Kansas (November 13), Michigan (November 27) and Utah Valley (December 9).
