CEDAR CITY, Utah - Each week through the offseason the Leavitt Group will highlight a student-athlete from Southern Utah University that has made a positive impact on their program and the institution. This week's Student-Athlete Spotlight is focused on distance runner Alison Pray.
Over the last three years, Alison Pray has become a fixture for the Thunderbird women's cross country and track teams.
She claimed her first Big Sky Conference medal as part of Southern Utah's distance medley relay team at the 2019 Indoor Championships, as her team finished in a time of 12:01.26.
Pray claimed her first individual medal at the Outdoor Championships that same year, finishing second in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:30.07.
This previous cross country season, Pray really made a name for herself on the national level. After finishing in third place at the 2019 Big Sky Championships, and sixth place at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships, Pray qualified to run at the NCAA National Championships as an individual.
She ended up finishing the 6K course in 21:02.0, which put her 64th in the field. This was Pray's second time at the National Championships, as she was part of the SUU team that ran in the meet in 2018.
Pray appears in the SUU T&F Record Book in five different spots with top-10 times in different events.
