CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah volleyball team will begin their 2020-21 season this Friday January 22 as they host Dixie State for their only non-conference matchup of the season.
2019 At a Glance
The Thunderbirds are coming off of one of their most successful seasons in program history as they finished with a 15-16 record overall and a 8-10 record in Big Sky Conference play.
The team made the Big Sky Volleyball Championship Tournament for the first time since 2015 and former Thunderbird Shannon Webb was named Big Sky Newcomer of the Year and earned All-Conference Second Team honors after finishing the regular season second in the conference in kills, averaging 3.82 per set, and finishing second in points with 462 total points, averaging 4.09 points per set.
Senior Stacey Hone also earned recognition from the conference for her performance, being named to the Big Sky All-Conference Second Team. The Las Vegas native finished second on the team with 368 total kills and a 3.30 kills per set average. She finished the regular season 10th in the Big Sky in terms of hitting percentage at .275.
Scouting Report: Dixie State Trailblazers
The Trailblazers finished their final season as a Division II program with a 20-8 record in 2019. They went 14-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for a third place finish.
The Trailblazers were picked to finish sixth in the 2021 WAC Preseason Volleyball Coaches' Poll.
2018 All-American Megan Treanor returns for her senior season with Dixie State after finishing the 2019 in the top-10 in the RMAC in kills, kills per set, aces, and aces per set.
Robyn Felder is in her ninth season as head coach of the Trailblazers.
