FARMINGTON, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference has announced an updated schedule for the 2021 spring football season, following the decision of multiple institutions to opt out of a conference slate in the coming months.
With the changes, Southern Utah will now play Northern Arizona twice during the abbreviated season, once at home and once on the road. Each Big Sky team will do this with a regional rival.
Southern Utah will now begin it's season on February 27 on the road against Northern Arizona. This will be the first game the Thunderbirds have played since November 23, 2019.
The Thunderbirds will have their first home contest on March 6, when they play host to the Idaho State Bengals.
Cal Poly will be the third team on Southern Utah's schedule, which will be played in the Golden State.
All Big Sky teams will have an open weekend on March 20.
On March 27 the Thunderbirds will travel to Idaho for a contest against the Vandals, marking their final home game of the season.
The Thunderbirds will close out the season with back-to-back home games against a pair of rivals. SUU will host Weber State on April 3 and Northern Arizona on April 10.
All Big Sky teams will have a second open weekend on April 17.
