SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team opened their long awaited 2021 season Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 exhibition loss to the Utah Valley Wolverines.
The Thunderbirds had an aggressive start as they took the first shot of the match in the second minute.
The T-Birds were held to only seven shots throughout the match, as Kamryn Farro would lead the team with three shots, and Kate Schirmer had two.
The Wolverines stayed in control for a majority of the match, scoring twice in each half. The two goals in the second half were scored less than two minutes apart. Julianna Carter led the Wolverines with two of the four goals and Amber Tripp notched three assists on the day.
Goalkeeper Jennifer Kovisto had nine saves in the match, while the Wolverines outshot the T-Birds 32-7.
The Thunderbirds will play their first regular season match of the season on the road as they face Gonzaga on February 11.
