SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Southern Utah volleyball team wrapped up a West Coast road trip Saturday afternoon with a 0-3 (21-25, 22-25, 22-25) loss to Sacramento State in California.
Reagan Ashby had another good offensive outing with nine kills and a .538 hitting percentage in 13 attempts. She also had three blocks and six digs. Julie Castleman also had nine kills and Stacey Hone had eight.
The Thunderbirds held leads in both of the first two sets, but long scoring runs from the Hornets in both would give them the lead. Sacramento State took the first set 25-21 and the second set 25-22.
Down 4-7 early in the third set, the Thunderbirds were able to tie the set at 8-8. However, a 4-0 scoring run from the Hornets gave them the momentum they needed to complete the three-set sweep.
The Thunderbirds will now return home for a four-game homestand starting with Weber State on October 14.
