CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbirds fell just short in the first of a two-match series to Northern Arizona 3-2 in their first Big Sky Conference contest Friday afternoon. 

The Lumberjacks would keep a 1-0 lead going into the half, but Southern Utah would answer back in the 47th minute of the contest with a penalty kick goal by Kamryn Farro.

Northern Arizona would score in the 62nd minute taking a 2-1 lead. Southern Utah's Rachael Hunt would answer back in the 69th minute for the Thunderbirds, tying the score 2-2. 

By the end of the contest, Northern Arizona would score their third goal in the 81st minute and the Thunderbirds would lose 3-2. 

Southern Utah's Farro and Hunt combined for six of the team's eight shot attempts. Both ladies also scored the two goals of the match. 

Monica Brown was credited with the assist on Hunt's goal. 

Sunday will finish the two-match series with Northern Arizona.
