OGDEN, Utah -- Southern Utah ended the two-match series with a victory over Weber State. This was the first victory in Ogden for the Thunderbirds since the 2014 season and their first Division I road win since 2017.
The Thunderbirds started the match off aggressively with three shot attempts and were successful on the third shot. In the 33rd minute of the match Jaylynn Barton would score her first goal of the season on a penalty kick. This was the 10th goal of the season for the T-Birds, passing the season total from 2019 in just six matches.
The T-Birds would go into halftime leading 1-0.
In the second half Weber State would outshot the T-Birds 11-1. Despite the aggressive approach by Weber State, the Thunderbirds shutdown every run the Wildcats would attempt. Southern Utah's defensive effort was led by Jennifer Kovisto. Playing the full match in the goalie box, Kovisto tallied six saves in the second half. The Thunderbirds would remain in control for the remainder of the contest.
Barton and Mekaylla White would have the only two shots on goal for Southern Utah. Kovisto also led both teams in saves (10).
Now returning home the T-Birds will host the University of Saint Katherine on Monday April 5 at 11:00 A.M. Mountain Time.
