GREELEY, Colo. Â Tyler Denhart and Payton Goodrich threw a gem in a pitcher's duel loss to Northern Colorado on Saturday. SUU softball dropped the contest, 4-0, on the road in Greeley, Colo.
Denhart opened the contest with a one-hitter through three innings pitched. She gave up just two runs off that single hit. Goodrich followed up with a scoreless one-hitter as well through two innings pitched and kept the Bears off the board during her time in the circle.Â
Offensively, Dayna Hokanson, Brooke Brown, Kalena Shepherd and Reilly Williams each collected a hit against the Bears.Â
Northern Colorado struck first with a double steal in the bottom of the first to lead ,1-0. Â The Bears then tacked on another run in the bottom of the second to stretch their advantage to 2-0. UNC then tallied two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to push the score to 4-0.
Next up, SUU welcomes Brigham Young to Kathryn Berg Field in Cedar City on Tuesday, May 4 at 3 p.m. MST. Â Â
SUU then closes the regular season with a Big Sky three-game set against Sacramento State May 7-8 in Cedar City. Â The teams face off in a doubleheader on Friday, May 7 starting at 1 p.m. MST before closing the season on Saturday, May 8 at 12 noon MST.
