The Bearkats (6-14, 3-3 WAC) are coming off a narrow five-set loss to New Mexico State. Sam Houston is no stranger to close matches, as four of their six conference games have gone the distance, becoming five set battles. They have defeated some stellar competition thus far. Their most recent win came against Utah Valley, who was projected to finish second in the Western Athletic Conference.

Sam Houston's offense is headlined by Catherine Krieger, who totals 2.91 kills per set. The Bearcats lead a balanced attack, with three other players averaging over two kills a set. Analise Lucero and Avery Fowler each do an excellent job finding their teammates, as they each tally over four assists per set.

The Bearkats are coached by Brenda Gray, who has found great success in her 39 years with the program. Last season Gray led the team to the 2021 WAC Southwest Division, and they aim to build off of that success this season.

Southern Utah will come ready for a battle in what should be an exciting conference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. MT.
