Preview

The Thunderbirds (16-7, 10-3) enter Monday's matchup looking to build upon one of their best performances of the season, an 83-57 drubbing of Sacramento State, their first victory at CSUS since 2007.

The win on Saturday, combined with a Weber State loss lifted SUU in the Big Sky standings to sole possession of second place.

With a monumental matchup at home against the current team in first place, Montana State, set for this Saturday, a win tomorrow night would put the T-Birds in prime position to move into first place in the Big Sky standings after the week is over.

This game features two high-powered offenses, as Northern Colorado sits atop the conference in scoring at 81.4 ppg, while Southern Utah follows just behind them, putting up 80.2 ppg in conference play this season.

The Bears are led by Senior Daylen Kountz, the Big Sky's top performing individual scorer, putting up an average of 21 points per game.

Prior Matchup

The T-Birds hosted Northern Colorado earlier this year on New Years Day, falling to the Bears in a high scoring contest, 91-81.

Southern Utah had five players score in double figures during the previous matchup, led by Maizen Fausett's 21 points, while Aanen Moody and John Knight III each chipped in 14 points of their own.

Unfortunately, it proved not to be enough, as the Bears shot lights out through the entire contest.

As a team, they shot 45.6% (31-68) from the field, while shooting an impressive 41.5% (17-41) from beyond the arc. Dru Kuxhausen led the way for Northern Colorado, knocking down seven three-pointers on his way to a 25-point outing.

Last Time Out

Southern Utah put up 43 points in the first half and 87 total in the game, as they never trailed on their way to an 83-57 victory at Sacramento State.

The Thunderbirds were firing on all cylinders offensively, shooting 50.8% from the field and 46.4% from three for the game. The T-Birds were also able to tally 20 assists in the game, and they received 35 points of production off the bench.

Tevian Jones highlighted the offense, putting up 19 points in 29 minutes of play. The Thunderbirds had three other players score in double figures, Maizen Fausett (15), Aanen Moody (14), and Dee Barnes (10).

The T-Birds found themselves up 10-0 to start the game and continued to pour on the points throughout the first half. The second half was a bit more even, as Southern Utah cruised to a 26 point victory.
