SUU NOTES (16-11, 12-6 Big Sky)
• Southern Utah enters Wednesday night's game against Idaho State off a loss to Montana. The Thunderbirds have yet to lose consecutive games in conference play this season.
• The Thunderbirds need just one victory in their two remaining games to secure a first-round bye at the upcoming Big Sky Conference Tournament.
• Southern Utah owns the league's number two scoring offense with an average of 70.6 points per game and the number five defense which allows 65.3 points per contest.
• In the last meeting between SUU and Idaho State, the Bengals defended their home court in the form of an 80-60 victory.
ABOUT IDAHO STATE (19-9, 15-4 Big Sky)
• Idaho State comes into Wednesday's showdown with three-consecutive wins under its belt. The Bengals most recently celebrated senior day by knocking off Portland State, 67-64.
• Tomekia Whitman is Idaho State's leading scorer with an average of 12.1 points per game. Estefania Ors follows closely with 12.0 points per outing.
• Idaho State is the fifth-ranked scoring offense in the Big Sky with a team average of 67.0 points per game. Defensively, The Bengals surrender 63.1 points per night which is third-best in the league.
• ISU is coached by Seton Sobolewski who is in his 14th season as head coach.
LAST TIME OUT
The Southern Utah University women' basketball team dropped its final road contest of the 2021-22 season Thursday when it suffered a 71-46 defeat at Montana.
Despite the setback, Lizzy Williamson had a productive game for the Thunderbirds in the form of 14 points, eight rebounds and five blocks on the defensive end. The Australian center also came away with two steals. Cherita Daugherty and Madelyn Eaton also had solid scoring nights for SUU with 10 points apiece. Daylani Ballena ran point for Southern Utah and dished out five assists while scoring seven points of her own.
Without forward Darri Dotson in the lineup, the T-Birds struggled in the battle down low. Montana outrebounded Southern Utah 40-28, including a 12-5 advantage on the offensive glass. The Grizzlies also outscored the Thunderbirds 38-20 in points in the paint. The SUU bench struggled to score with Eaton thrust into the starting lineup as the reserves could only manage two points compared to Montana's 26.
