ST. GEORGE, Utah – Freshman Anais Guibal led the Southern Utah University women's golf team on day one of the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird invite by finishing inside the top-20 to wrap up the opening round as the team's individual leader.

Guibal posted a five-over-par 77 which placed her 19th overall. The French native shot two birdies on the day and made par 10 times.

As a team, the Thunderbird sit in seventh place overall heading into Friday's second round. Southern Utah registered a collective 26-over-par 314.

Just one stroke behind Guibal was Tori Thomas whose efforts landed her in 27th on a six-over-par 78. Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan was SUU's third finisher on the day with a seven-over-par 79. The Thailand native sits in 35th place in the individual standings heading into day two.

Seattle Leads the team standings through 18 holes after shooting 11 over par on the day. South Dakota State and Arkansas State carded identical 14-over-par 302s which rounded out the top three. Weber State's Jessica Zelasko is the individual leader on a two-under-par 70 after the opening day. Seattle's Samantha Bruce sits in second, and CSUN's Julia Myklebus along with Northern Colorado's Camila Velasquez, finished in a tie for third.

Tanyatorn (Excel) Thalangkarn continued the streak of SUU golfers finishing within one stroke of each other by recording an eight-over-par 80. Her score made her the fourth Thunderbird to finish inside the top-50 in 41st place. Ellie Hair rounded out the Southern Utah Lineup by finishing in 72nd place.
