Johnson Matches Thunderbirds’ Season Low With 68 at Boulder Creek

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Jaden Johnson fired a 4-under-par 68 to match Southern Utah's lowest round of the season as the Thunderbirds finished 14th among 19 teams at The Clash at Boulder Creek on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Johnson recorded seven birdies and climbed 20 places into a tie for 16th, leading Southern Utah with a 3-under-par 213 across three rounds. Her 68 matched the two rounds of 68 Saylar May posted at the season-opening Wolverine Invitational.

Southern Utah finished at 15-over-par 879 following rounds of 290, 291 and 298 at Boulder Creek Golf Club's Desert Hawk-Coyote Run course.

Head Coach Caylyn McKinlay Said:

"Even though today was a tougher day, we still saw a lot of great things and continued to fight to keep things steady. We know what we're capable of and we showed some of that grit by competing against and beating a lot of great teams out there. There is plenty for us to be proud of and we're hungry to keep building on the good things we've seen this fall. We'll take what we've learned, keep getting better, and use it as motivation heading into the spring. Lastly, congrats to Jaden on a great 4 under par final round."

Johnson Matches Season Standard

Johnson improved her score each day in Boulder City, following an opening-round 73 with a 72 Monday and Tuesday's 68.

Her final round featured birdies at the par-4 first and 14th, par-3 fourth and 12th, and par-5 fifth, ninth and 16th. She recorded matching scores of 2-under 34 on each nine, combining seven birdies with eight pars and three bogeys.

Johnson scored effectively across every type of hole. She played the par 5s in 3 under without a bogey, the par 3s in 1 under and the par 4s at even par.

Her seven birdies were the most by a Thunderbird in a single round at the tournament. Johnson finished with 12 birdies across 54 holes, and her final-round charge moved her from 1 over through two rounds to 3 under for the event.

May Finishes at Even Par

May tied for 27th at even-par 216 after rounds of 69, 71 and 76.

She recorded two birdies Tuesday, picking up strokes at the par-4 second and par-5 fifth. May played holes 1–9 at even-par 36, balancing those birdies with two bogeys.

Her opening two rounds gave Southern Utah consecutive under-par scores, and she finished the tournament with 11 birdies. May and Johnson both completed the event at even par or better, giving the Thunderbirds two finishers among the top 30.

Langlois Adds Two Final-Round Birdies

Rosalie Langlois tied for 74th at 8-over 224, recording rounds of 72, 76 and 76.

Langlois birdied the par-4 second and 14th Tuesday and added 11 pars. She played all four par 5s at even par in the final round.

Her tournament included an eagle at the par-5 16th during Sunday's even-par 72. Across three rounds, Langlois recorded that eagle and four birdies while contributing a counting score each day.

Luangnam Scores on No. 16

Siriporn (Orchid) Luangnam finished tied for 88th at 13-over 229 following rounds of 76, 75 and 78.

Luangnam's final-round birdie came at the par-5 16th. She played holes 10–18 at even-par 36, recording seven pars alongside one birdie and one bogey.

She collected seven birdies during the tournament, including five on par 5s. Luangnam contributed a counting score in all three rounds.

Wilson Completes Southern Utah Lineup

Taylyn Wilson tied for 102nd at 21-over 237 after rounds of 83, 73 and 81.

Wilson recorded nine pars Tuesday, including seven on holes 10–18, which she played in 1-over 37.

Her second-round 73 marked a 10-stroke improvement from Sunday and counted toward Southern Utah's team total. That round included four birdies and an even-par performance on holes 10–18.
