CEDAR CITY, Utah – After having two school records broken in the past two weekends, Southern Utah University's Track and field program will be back in action this weekend at the Utah Spring Classic on Saturday, April 9.
SCHOOL RECORDS BROKEN
Two weeks ago, Elizabeth White destroyed the SUU school record in the long jump at UCLA with a leap of 20'4. Last weekend at the Stanford invitational Haley Tanne broke the SUU school record in the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 10:28.84, topping the previous record time of 10:33.55.
SUU last competed in the UVU Collegiate Invitational and the Stanford Invitational from Friday, March 31 through Saturday, April 2.

Madisan DeBos also put up a top time in the 3k Steeplechase, finishing in fourth place with a time of 10:44.71 and securing her in fourth place all-time in the event for SUU.
Nate Osterstock earned a new personal best time in the 5k. Osterstock ran to a time of 13:40.21 to finish in 12th, while also strengthening his hold on third place in the SUU record books.
Jacob Francis finished in first place in the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 9:03.03.
UVU COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL
Cedar English had a career day in the long jump. English leaped to a monstrous personal record of 24'2, earning him third place in the entire event and pushing him into sixth place all-time for SUU.
Hunter Morganson had another strong performance in the men's shot put. Morganson launched a throw 52'3 to claim third place in the event and push into tenth all-time in the event for SUU. The junior has earned two top-five finishes in his first two meets this season.
Big Sky indoor high jump champion Joren McKeever started his outdoor season off on the right foot leaping to 6'8 ¾" to claim second place overall in the event.
Jace Rodgers earned a new personal best time in the 400 Meters. Rodgers ran a time of 22.15 and claimed fourth place overall in the finals.
On the women's side, Veronika Vallova battled to a third-place finish in the Javelin with a throw of 143'-10.5". This also moved into third all-time in the event for the Thunderbirds.
Three Thunderbirds earned top-ten finishes in the women's hammer throw.
Emma Nwachukwu grabbed her second top-three finish in the outdoor season with an excellent mark of 192'9.5" to clinch second place in the event. Rebecca Hazlet fought her way into sixth place with a throw of 162'4. Jessica Jericoff earned a new personal best throw of 151'3 to earn ninth.
In the women's 100 Meter hurdles, Savannah Nielson ran a personal record time of 14.47 to earn an eighth-place finish in the finals, pushing her into tenth place all-time in the event for the Thunderbirds.
ATHLETES TO WATCH
Jentry Skidmore: SPRINTS, JUMPS, THROWS
Skidmore finished ninth at the Big Sky Indoor Championships and has been consistent in all of her multi-events so far. In her last competition at Utah Valley, she earned new personal records in the javelin and long jump. Skidmore threw a 132' 1/4" to finish in fourth place overall and leaped to a solid mark of 18'2 in the long jump.
Nethaneel Taylor: DISTANCE
Taylor has performed very well in the 800 meters and the 3k steeplechase during his last two meets. During his debut in the steeplechase at UCLA, Taylor blazed to third-place finish off a time of 9:30.40. In the 800 Meters, Taylor posted a time of 1:56.24 to finish in sixth place overall.
