Southern Utah MBB Lands Fourth Transfer in Cameron Healy

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah University men's basketball team and head coach Todd Simon have announced the signing of a fourth transfer addition in former Central Michigan and Albany product Cameron Healy.

"Cameron is an impact player with over 100 games of experience," said Simon. "He's scored at a high level and is a prolific shooter from 3 and from the free throw line. His skill set fits our uptempo and spread style of play."

Healy is a 6'3 guard originally from Sydney, Australia. He began his career at the University of Albany, where he played three seasons for the Great Danes before transferring to Central Michigan, competing for the Chippewas this past season.

Healy made 28 appearances with 21 starts for CMU last year, averaging 11.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, while shooting 36.5 percent from three and 76.1 percent from the free-throw line.

During his time at Albany, Healy played in 75 games while making 57 starts. As a redshirt freshman, Healy started in all 32 contests for the Great Danes, averaging 16 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, while drilling 41.4 percent of his three-point shots. He broke the freshman scoring record at Albany, totaling 512 points on the season, as well as the single season record for made three-pointers by knocking down 104 and single game record for threes with nine against Binghamton. He also earned a spot on the America East Conference All-Rookie team and the All-AEC Third Team.

As a sophomore, Healy put up 14.2 points per contest and finished the season with the highest free-throw percentage in the AEC (90.8%), which also ranked fifth in the country. He scored a career-high 41 points against UMass-Lowell, setting the program record for most points scored in a single game.

Prior to playing for Albany, Healy attended Scot's College in Australia and world-renowned Montverde Academy in Florida, where he helped lead his team to the High School National Championship game.

Healy is the fourth guard to transfer into the Southern Utah basketball program this offseason, as Simon continues to reload the roster ahead of the team's first season in the Western Athletic Conference.
