Yongyuan Forced to Withdraw From NCAA Regional Round Due to Injury

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University golfer Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan has withdrawn from the NCAA Regional round due to injury. Yongyuan had one of the best seasons in SUU golf history; unfortunately, she will no longer be able to showcase her phenomenal skills in the NCAA Tournament.

Yongyuan was one of thirty female golfers in the country to qualify for the NCAA Regional round as an individual. She recorded a top-10 finish in every tournament that she competed in this season, including a first place victory at the Lady Thunderbird Invitational.

Yongyuan became the first female in the history of the Southern Utah University women's golf program to qualify for the NCAA Regional round in 2019. She accomplished the incredible feat again this season.

Yongyuan has dominated since her freshman year at SUU, accumulating 13 Big Sky Player of the Week Awards to set a new conference record. She also earned Big Sky First-Team All-Conference Honors four years in a row.

Regarded as the best golfer in program history, Yongyuan has the option to exercise a fifth year of eligibility and return for one more season.
