Former Thunderbird Marquez Tucker Wins USFL Championship With Birmingham Stallions

CANTON, Ohio - Southern Utah University football alumni Marquez Tucker won the inaugural USFL Championship with the Birmingham Stallions this past Sunday. Tucker and the Stallions capped off an incredible regular season that saw them go 9-1 by taking down the New Orleans Breakers in their first playoff contest and then pulling out a three-point victory over the Philadelphia Stars in a thrilling championship game on Sunday, claiming the title.

Tucker was a member of the SUU football program from 2017-18 and was a force on the offensive line for the Thunderbirds. Tucker appeared in all 23 games during his two seasons with Southern Utah, and played a critical role in leading SUU to their second Big Sky Conference Championship in 2017, earning Second Team All-Conference honors at the conclusion of the season.

Following a stint in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Tucker was drafted in the ninth round by the Stallions in the USFL Draft this past February. He appeared in 10 games for Birmingham this season, while making one start on the offensive line.
