CEDAR CITY, UT - Midway through week two of the Thunderbirds Football camp and the team is starting to gel. It can take some time especially for an offense to figure out just how to work together.
The T-Bird offense seems to be finding their footing though as they have looked impressive this week. In offense timing can be everything and that timing is starting to sync up for the Thunderbirds.
The Southern Utah offensive attack will look a little different this year with new Offensive Coordinator Blair Peterson at the helm. The position group that is really starting to hit their stride in this new offense is the Wide Receivers. With a lot of new faces it can take a while for quarterbacks to find receivers and start hitting them in their routes but that seems to be exactly what is taking place this week.
The Thunderbirds leading receiver from a year ago, Ethan Bolingbroke is back and ready to catch a lot of passes. He led the team last season with 523 yards but was not the hot target in the Red Zone scoring only 2 of the teams 10 receiving touchdowns. Bolingbroke and the incumbent starting quarterback Justin Miller seem to have good chemistry on the field which will help the pair be successful as the season gets underway.
Though there are not many returning offensive starters for the T-Birds they have some good talent coming in especially in the receivers group. Coach Peterson said of the receivers, "They are looking good, learning and growing everyday. I love their approach to getting better every opportunity and I am excited to see them continue to develop." The Wide Receivers coach Brady Measom said "They are a competitive group, every one of them wants to be the best and they are all growing because of it."
The Thunderbirds will look to use the passing game as part of the new attack to up their offensive production.
