RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Southern Utah University men's and women's cross country teams had an exceptional showing at the UC Riverside Invitational, as the men secured a second-place finish in a field of 30 teams, while the women earned a third-place finish out of 31 teams.
Women's Recap
The women tallied 149 points for the event, finishing with just nine more points than Arizona who took first, and eight more than Cal Poly who claimed second.
Madisan DeBos led the way for the women's team, finishing in a blazing time of 20:40.4 to claim a 13th place finish out of 265 total runners. Sophomore Sariah Hernandez finished second in the SUU lineup, taking 26th place with a time of 20:58.5.
Haley Tanne came in just behind Hernandez, finishing with a time of 21:04.6 to claim 34th in the race. Aviry Stratton took 41st place with a time of 21:15.5 and Jordyn Bartolomucci rounded out the scoring for Southern Utah, finishing in 43rd place with a time of 21:18.1, as all five of SUU's top runners finished inside of the top 50 competitors.
Quinn Hagerman took 52nd place with a time of 21:24.3. Kathryn Kelly finished in 109th with a time of 22:05.7, and Sammi Stewart came in 148th with a time of 22:22.1. Madison Patrick finished in 201st with a time of 23:02.8m and Addison Dalton finished in 206th with a time of 23:07.4.
Men's Recap
Led by Travis Feeny and Isaiah Labra, the men recorded just 90 points for the event to claim a second-place finish in a talented field of teams.
Feeny had an incredible outing, finishing in fifth overall and fourth out of collegiate runners with an impressive time of 23:55.4. Labra also had a stellar performance, taking 10th place overall and ninth out of collegiate runners to give SUU two top-10 finishers. Labra recorded a time of 24:03.2 for the event.
Sophomore Santiago Gaitan finished in 20th place with a time of 24:15.5, and Hayden Howard came in just behind him with a time of 24:18.2 to place 24th and give SUU four top-25 finishers. Max Jones closed out the scoring for Southern Utah, securing a 35th place finish with a time of 24:24.5.
Nethaneel Taylor finished 68th with a time of 24:47.2, while Coleman Cragun took 112th with a time of 25:12.3. Nathan Carlin recorded a time of 25:16.5 to finish in 124th. Camden Cox finished 187th with a time of 25:53.5 and Bowen Martin finished in 209th place with a time of 26:08.8.
Competing in the men's open competition, Lanse Larsen took sixth place with a solid time of 24:56.5.

Both teams will be back in action on Friday, September 30, as they are scheduled to make the trip to South Bend, Indiana to compete at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational.
