CEDAR CITY, Utah. With the most successful season in school history in the rearview mirror, Southern Utah head women's soccer coach Kai Edwards is looking forward to a productive spring season to kick off 2023.
Luckily for the Thunderbirds, they do not have to travel far to get game opponents during the spring as they will stay in the State of Utah during the entire month of action.

Head Coach Kai Edwards:
The team came back from the offseason break competitive and sharp. I was curious to see if they would return to campus complacent after the best season in school history, and I'm happy to say the exact opposite occurred. They all came back hungry for more!
This spring will definitely challenge us! We kick off with Snow College and Salt Lake Community College, two consistent national champion competitors at the junior college level that are full of NCAA talent and coaching. They will both pose great challenges, especially playing both games on the same day.
Utah Tech has become a competitive rivalry with them winning the past two fall games against us. We need to keep growing in these matches against them as we have beaten them in the past two spring contests - but that needs to translate to the fall.
Utah State is well-coached and has had some strong seasons recently. They are a very good NCAA Division I school and playing an in-state program always brings out the best in us.
On the final weekend, we head to Salt Lake City to play in front of a lot of fans, which is always an awesome environment. Playing BYU speaks for itself. They crushed us last year, and we grew from that game and rattled off a strong fall season. We look to develop our mentality and prove our growth in that game this spring. We also end with an impressive Westminster team that will be a good test for us.
All in all, we are playing an all-Utah schedule and will challenge ourselves in a variety of ways versus some incredible programs.
