SEATTLE, Wash– The Southern Utah University track and field program wrapped up an impressive outing Saturday night at UW Invitational and seven different Thunderbirds set new personal bests.
Isaiah Labra led the charge for the Thunderbirds by dashing to a time of 14:17.45 in the 5000 meters to finish in fourth place, securing a new personal record to put him 10th all-time for Southern Utah. Santiago Gaitan came in just six seconds behind to take ninth place with a time of 14:23.23, which is two seconds faster than his previous record. Coleman Cragun cracked the top 10 by taking tenth place with a new top time of 14:27.04, beating his former record by nearly seven seconds.
Labra and Gaitan followed up that performance with stellar finishes in the 3000 Meters. Labra took 19th place with a time of 8:07.57, while Gaitan came in just a hair behind with a time of 8:07.75 to finish in 21st place, earning eighth all-time in the SUU record books. Senior Travis Feeny topped his previous personal record by four-tenths of a second with an 8:12.56 for 29th place.
Hayden Harward crushed his past personal milestone in the mile by grabbing a 4:10.11 first-place finish in his heat and 31st overall. Payton Riggs followed Harward with a record of his own, earning 29th place courtesy of a time of 4:07.91.
Madisan DeBos fueled the fire for the Thunderbird women by blistering to a ninth-place finish in the 5,000 Meter with a time of 16:43.09. This finish pushed DeBos into fifth all-time for SUU in the event.
Haley Tanne blazed to a 10-second personal record in the 3000 meters, taking 21st place with a time of 9:34.78 to also move up into fifth in the event in the SUU record books.

Southern Utah will now travel back to Flagstaff for the second time in the past two weeks for the NAU Ron Mann Classic on Friday, Feb 3, and Saturday, Feb 4.
