SEATTLE, Wash. - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball program closed its 2023 season with a loss against Seattle U in three sets at the Redhawk Center on Saturday, Nov. 11. The Thunderbirds finish with a 6-20 record and a 2-14 effort in Western Athletic Conference play, while the Redhawks improve to 8-19 and 3-13 in WAC play.

The Redhawks came out strong as they built a 18-6 lead to start the match. Carissa Richie led the T-Birds with five kills in the period, but it wasn't enough as Seattle U took set one 25-16.
After a 6-0 start from Seattle U, Southern Utah went on a 9-3 run to get within a single point, 10-9, midway through set two. The Thunderbirds managed to stay within striking distance as they trailed 22-19 late in the period. However, the Redhawks fired off three consecutive points to claim the second set 25-19.
The two squads matched each other point for point to begin set three, with the score being tied at 8-8. The Redhawks used an 8-4 stretch to go in front by four, 16-12. Southern Utah rallied, scoring seven of the next ten points to even the score at 19-19, but that was as close as the Thunderbirds would get as Seattle U won the set 25-20 and the match 3-0.
