CEDAR CITY, Utah - Back-to-back home matches await the Southern Utah University women's volleyball team. First up, SUU will host the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. MT. Then, the Thunderbirds will play their final home match of the season against Utah Tech on Monday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. MT.

SENIOR DAY

Southern Utah will be honoring Hana Makonova on Senior Day on Monday, Nov 6.

Hailing from Sokolov, Czech Republic, Hana is not only a standout athlete but also an avid scholar, currently working on her Master of Business Administration at SUU after earning her Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Cal State Bakersfield.

This season, Hana's performance has been nothing short of exceptional, with standout achievements that highlight her immense contribution to the Thunderbirds volleyball team. 

Hana has amassed an impressive total of 205 points, showcasing her incredible ability by leading the team in attacking percentage. She has racked up 163 total kills, averaging 2.01 kills per set. 

Defensively, Hana has been a force at the net, registering a remarkable 55.0 total blocks, the most on the team. Hana's remarkable statistics reflect her unwavering dedication and skill, making her a huge presence on the volleyball court.

TOP T-BIRDS

• Andrea Spasojevic leads the way offensively for the Thunderbirds with 2.77 kills each set.

• Natasha Obradovic (2.07) and Hana Makonova (2.01) each eclipse the two kills per set mark as well.

• Teniyah Leuluai orchestrates the offense to the tune of 6.69 assists each set.

• The defensive effort is led by Spasojevic (3.22), Arianna Rossi (2.97), and Calli Johnson (2.53) who lead the squad in digs per set.

• Makonova has compiled 55 blocks on the season to lead the team.

LAST TIME OUT

Southern Utah vs. Grand Canyon

GCU jumped out to a 17-11 advantage in set one. Southern Utah battled back to get within two points (22-20), but it wasn't enough as the Antelopes would take the set 25-20.

The second set was a tight contest, as the two squads found themselves tied at 18-18. Despite six kills in the period from Andrea Spasojevic, Grand Canyon would narrowly take set two 25-23.

The Antelopes took a 15-7 lead in the third set and never looked back, winning the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

SCOUTING REPORT: UTRGV VAQUEROS

• The Vaqueros own a 14-11 record with a 8-4 effort in Western Athletic Conference play. UTRGV will face Utah Tech on Thursday before playing SUU.

• Nadine Zech (2.67) and Perris Key (2.66) lead UTRGV in kills each set.

• Luanna Emiliano dishes out 10.10 assists each set.

• Kiaraliz Perez hustles for 4.10 digs a set.

SCOUTING REPORT: UTAH TECH TRAILBLAZERS

• The Trailblazers have compiled a 8-14 record with a 4-8 mark in WAC play.

• Kennedi Knudsen leads the way for Utah Tech with 3.10 kills per set.

• Taela Laufiso averages 7.10 assists.

• Emma Ricks picks up a team-high 3.24 digs each set.

HISTORY

• UTRGV leads the all-time series against SUU 3-1.
