RUSTON, LA -- Men's Basketball secured a big win over Texas St Wednesday morning, defeating the Bobcats 74-67. Zion Young led all scorers in the contest with 25 points on 8-13 from the floor and 5-10 from three, he also pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
Dominique Ford did it all for the Thunderbirds with 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
SUU shot 45% from the floor and nearly 35% from three. They also held the Bobcats to just 10% from three and 43% from the field.
Braden Housley also had a great game for SUU with 13 points, three rebounds and three steals. Parsa Fallah played 33 minutes in the game and nearly had a double-double with 10 points and seven rebounds.
The team had seven steals on the night and forced 11 turnovers that would lead to easy transition and fast break layups that helped propel them to victory.
"We played a much better game defensively and had a lot more effort on both ends of the floor." Said Head Coach Rob Jeter.
Texas St Stats
Kaden Gumbs led the way for the Bobcats with a double-double on the night, having 15 points, 10 rebounds and dishing out four assists. Four other players scored in double digits for Texas St but Dylan Dawson was the only player to make a three for the Bobcats, who as a team went 1-10 from long range. The Bobcats won the rebound battle 40 to 31 and had 16 offensive rebounds.
"We are continuing to get better each game. There will always be things we can work on, but if we can continue to buy into the program we will start seeing results like we had today. I am very proud of our team!" Said Jeter.

The Thunderbirds won't take the floor again until Wednesday, Nov 29 when they take on WAC opponent Cal Baptist in the America First Event Center at 6:30 p.m.
