CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah Thunderbirds Softball program and Head Coach Don Don Williams have added five talented athletes to their roster, each of whom brings something different to the team. Michaella Salvatierra, Madison Moreno, Isabella Knight, Michelle De la Cruz, and Tawnie Mozeris are set to make their mark on T-Bird Nation.

"This class strengthens the competitive edge we are building in our program. Each of these student-athletes brings versatile depth to our line-up that will complement our current roster. Their experience and composure on the field is going to elevate everyone around them. This is a great day for T-Bird softball. We got better today!"

Michaella Salvatierra 

• Hometown: Chula Vista, California 

• High School: Mater Dei Catholic 

• Club Team: Corona Angels Tyson 

• Position: Outfielder 

Michaella Salvatierra will arrive at SUU with a rich history of success, including being part of the 2021 14u Alliance Tier 1 National Championship and earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In 2021, she also contributed to her high school's CIF Open Division championship. In 2022, Michaella received Second Team All-League and helped her team to a CIF State Championship. Her 2023 accolades include First Team All-League and Offensive MVP and being named to the 2023 Alliance Nationals 16u All-Tournament Team, making her a valuable addition to the Thunderbirds' outfield.

Madison Moreno 

• Hometown: Fullerton, California 

• High School: Sunny Hills 

• Club Team: Corona Angels Tyson 

• Position: Pitcher

Madison Moreno, a standout pitcher from Fullerton, California, has made her mark with various achievements. In 2022, she was named First Team All-League, and she helped her team secure the League Championship. She brings a history of success, including contributing to the League Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Moreno also earned recognition as a member of the 2022 16u Alliance Nationals All-Tournament Team.

Isabella Knight 

• Hometown: West Jordan, Utah 

• High School: West Jordan 

• Club Team: USA Athletics 

• Position: Utility Infielder 

Isabella Knight, known for her versatility on the field, has an impressive high school resume, including two Second Team All-State honors and three First Team All-Region recognition. Her experience as a utility infielder, along with her solid track record, will undoubtedly be an asset for the Thunderbirds.

Michelle De la Cruz 

• Hometown: Las Vegas, Nevada 

• High School: Palo Verde 

• Club Team: Athletics Mercado 

• Position: Catcher, Utility 

Michelle De la Cruz is another exceptional recruit, excelling as both a catcher and utility player. She earned a place on the 2023 All-Region First Team and was selected to represent the National Polynesian Team in 2021. Her diverse skill set and experiences on the field make her a versatile asset to the Thunderbirds.

Tawnie Mozeris 

• Hometown: Peoria, Arizona 

• High School: Centennial High School 

• Club Team: Rogue FC Kaye 

• Position: Middle Infielder, Third Baseman 

Tawnie Mozeris, a talented middle infielder and third baseman from Arizona, has received recognition for her skills, earning two-time Second Team All-Region honors and 2023 All-Region First Team recognition. Her presence on the field and her commitment to excellence make her a valuable addition to the T-Birds roster.

These five athletes bring a wealth of experience and success to the Southern Utah University softball program. Their contributions on and off the field are sure to enhance the team's performance and continue to build on the team's commitment to success. Southern Utah softball fans have much to look forward to with these new recruits joining the ranks of the Thunderbirds.
