Men's Basketball Nearly Knocks Off University Of Utah

SALT LAKE CITY, UT -- The Thunderbirds nearly knocked off The University of Utah, coming up just short 86-88.

Game Recap
SUU trailed by as many as 17 in the second half but never gave up and battled all the way back to lose by just two on the road. At the under-four media timeout the Thunderbirds trailed by just three points but could never take the lead. After two made free throws by Rollie Worster, Dominique Ford banked in a three at the buzzer to finish the game 86-88.

"We played a really great game tonight. I thought our guys competed really hard and gave it everything they had. There's still things we can do better, but I was very pleased with our overall effort." said Head Coach Rob Jeter.

Statistical Recap
Braden Housley and Ford led the way with 23 points each for the Thunderbirds both setting season highs in scoring. Ford was  5-8 from three and snagged three rebounds and dished out two assists. Housley was 4-9 from three to go along with five assists.

Parsa Fallah had another brilliant game, scoring 20 points on an efficient 9-15 from the field to go along with four rebounds and three assists. Prophet Johnson did a little bit of everything for the Thunderbirds, scoring eight points, pulling down a team high 11 rebounds and served up five assists as well.

As a team the Thunderbirds shot a season high 46% from three and 50% from the field. Despite being outsized SUU only lost the rebounding battle by four 39-35 and was +1 on second chance points 13-12.

Keba Keita led the way for the Utes, scoring 23 points on 11-12 from the floor and pulled down eight rebounds as well. Worster led the team with 11 assists and Ben Carlson pulled down a team high 10 rebounds.

SUU held the Utes under 30% from three.

"We are getting closer. This team can be really good, and we have shown that multiple times this season. It is just about being consistent night in and night out, and if we can continue to play how we did tonight, the wins will start coming." said, Jeter.
