CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University Women's Soccer team and Head Coach Kai Edwards are thrilled to announce the addition of midfielder Chiaki Takase originally from Kaisei, Japan – by way of Peninsula College.
"Chiaki is a highly technical, box-to-box midfielder. Her ability on the ball dictates and controls the flow of the game. We are also excited for Chiaki to bring her broad perspective to the program coming from Japan, adding to our already diverse locker room environment. " Said Edwards.
Chiaki earned All-Conference honors in 2021 and 2022, and helped Peninsula College to the No. 1 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches NJCAA National Rankings Poll.
Her former head coach also had great things to say about Takase, "Chiaki is the most technically gifted player I have coached in over a decade at Peninsula College. More importantly, she puts her teammates first and is solely focused on the team's success."
Takase had four goals and five assists in her 2022-23 season for Peninsula College.
