CEDAR CITY, Utah - Southern Utah University Thunderbirds Volleyball is pleased to announce the schedule for the 2023 season. The Thunderbirds, led by Coach Kacey Nady, are prepared to face fierce competition and showcase their skills in the highly regarded Western Athletic Conference.

Southern Utah is set to take on a great preseason as well as tough conference opponents in the 2023 campaign. With a blend of home and away games, the team will have ample opportunities to demonstrate the progress of the program.

Coach Kacey Nady expressed enthusiasm about the Thunderbirds' schedule, stating, "I am thrilled to present this challenging schedule as we head into our second season in the WAC. We have a great combination of home and away matches this year to prepare us for our conference play. We are excited to compete again in front of the incredible students and fans in Cedar City."

The Thunderbirds are competing with some formidable teams in the preseason. The 2023 campaign begins with the California State University-Bakersfield tournament. The T-Birds will square off with Providence, Eastern Washington, and the host Roadrunners. The following weekend the Thunderbirds will return to California for a split tournament against the University of California and Saint Mary's. They will also take on a former Big Sky foe at the tournament in Portland State.  

The first chance for Thunderbird fans to cheer on the team at home will be on September, 8 when the Bulldogs of Fresno State University come to town. Southern Utah will host a pair of teams the very next weekend when Marshall University and The University of Idaho make their way to Cedar City. 

The WAC volleyball season typically runs from late September to early November, featuring intense conference matchups during this period. One game that might be circled on the calendar for Thunderbird fans will be the September, 28 road match-up with UTRGV, the team that put the T-Birds out of the playoffs last season. The Thunderbirds will face other tough rivals including Utah Valley and Utah Tech in pursuit of a return to the WAC Conference Tournament. The tournament will determine the WAC champion and provide a pathway to the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship.

Southern Utah University is committed to representing the university and community with passion, sportsmanship, and pride throughout the 2023 volleyball season. The Thunderbirds aim to make their mark in the conference and inspire their fans with their exceptional performance on the court.
