SEATTLE, Wash. - The Southern Utah University women's volleyball team competed against the Seattle Redhawks on Thursday, Oct. 17, losing in three sets. The Thunderbirds move to 4-3 in Western Athletic Conference competition, while the Redhawks improve to 2-5 in WAC play.

Set number one was tight all the way through, with both teams trading points early to show the score tied at ten apiece. After a 4-0 run from the Thunderbirds, Seattle responded with five straight points to take a 15-14 lead into a media timeout. Coming out of the break, the squads continued to exchange blows before another Redhawk scoring run saw the home team go up 22-18. With their backs against the wall, Southern Utah scored five of the next six to tie things up again at 23. However, the comeback would fall just short as Seattle would close things out 26-24 and take the first.
Frame two saw much of the same from both clubs as the Thunderbirds and Redhawks exchanged scoring runs to see the game tied at 16 all at the halfway mark. A few points later, with Seattle up 20-19, a service error from the Redhawks tied things up again at 20. With Southern Utah looking to rally, Seattle continued to attack, stringing together a 5-0 scoring run to ice the set 25-20 and take a 2-0 match lead.
With the third tied at eight apiece early on, the Redhawks began to pull away, capitalizing on six of seven on their way to a 21-12 lead late. Southern Utah began to crawl back into it, capping off a 3-0 run to see them down only five, 23-18, but after a timeout from Seattle, the Redhawks capitalized on the final two to win the game 25-18 and complete the 3-0 match victory.
