Coach Eric Houle Said
"We're in the second race [for men's and women's] at Wisconsin, so we have to run really well. We should have our full team there and if we don't have any issues, not only for this meet, but the meets down the road after that, we should be extremely competitive."
Last Time Out
At the Color Country Invitational, Southern Utah's lone home meet of the season, the Thunderbirds fared well, finishing second in both the men's 6K and women's 4K. For the men, Hayden Harward led the way, taking fourth with an 18:31.5. Jacob Peterson and Travis Feeny also broke the top 20, finishing in tenth and 19th with times of 18:47.1 and 19:09.5 respectively.
Madisan DeBos carried on as a staple in the women's success, finishing eighth with a time of 14:14.6. Two freshmen raced through the line next, with Audrey Hales taking 20th at 15:00.0 and Lia Selander taking 21st at 15:00.3.
Wisconsin Pre-Nationals
The race, hosted by the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., will take place on the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, which features rolling hills and valleys and a section of woods.
While some SUU athletes have missed stretches of the season, Eric Houle expects a strong and healthy showing from his teams this weekend. As the final race of the Thunderbirds' regular season, this meet will be crucial to preparing the team for the upcoming Western Athletic Conference Championship.
The women will compete in their 6K at 11:40 a.m. MT and the men will follow with their 8K race at 12:20.
