Last Time Out
At the UCR Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 21, the teams performed well in a wide field of over 25 teams. On the women's side, a sixth-place team finish was highlighted by Madisan DeBos's 20:17.4 6K, which put her in 11th place. Jordyn Bartolomucci and Bella Evans also contributed heavily to the Thunderbirds' success, placing 35th and 42nd with times of 20:46.7 and 20:53.7 respectively.Â
Jacob Peterson led the charge to a fourth-place finish for the men, with a 23:55.0 8K locking him in at 20th place. Following close behind, Hayden Harward took 31st with a 24:04.3 and Santiago Gaitan slotted in at 34th with a 24:05.3.
Color Country Invitational
Due to the significant difference in altitude for most of the teams visiting Cedar City to participate in the Color Country Invitational, the race will be only a 6K for the men and a 4K for the women. Despite the shorter distance, the hilly course and high elevation could make for a challenging race.
The course is, however, extremely spectator-friendly, offering fans many opportunities to support the team as they complete each loop.
With a crucial stretch of races following this one, the Color Country Invitational could be the last chance for athletes to earn a spot on the teams traveling to Wisconsin and the Western Athletic Conference Championship.Â
The women's 4K will start at 8:00 a.m. MT and the men's 6K will follow at 8:30. The meet will also feature a 2K Alumni Race, which will kick off at 9:00.
