CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The Western Athletic Conference release their regular season awards on Monday, with redshirt freshman Braden Housley earning himself a spot on the WAC All-Freshman team.
"I am very happy for Braden. This is a kid who has not played a real basketball game for three years. He came into this season and was asked to be the starter, and he really handled it well. He did everything to the best of his ability, and I can't wait to see how much better he is going to get," said Head Coach Rob Jeter.
Housley led the team in total minutes and minutes per game this season. He shot 38% from the floor and made 41 threes on the year.
Braden averaged just under 11 points per game and four rebounds. He amassed a team-leading 111 assists on the year, 3.6 per contest, which is good enough to be sixth in the WAC in assists per game. He also led the team in steals at 49 on the season, which puts him in a tie for fifth in total steals in the conference.
