CEDAR CITY, Utah —The Thunderbirds took on Seattle University on Friday, earning a split. The Redhawks took game one 16-4, but the Thunderbirds battled back to take game two 7-5. The split moved Southern Utah's record to 17-20 on the season with a 6-10 record in conference play.
The Thunderbirds were led at the plate by junior Ariyana Miranda, who collected four hits on the day, including three singles and a home run. Miranda totaled four RBIs in the doubleheader. Freshmen Arianna Ramirez and Kassidy Munoz were also good at the plate today, each picking up three hits, with Munoz driving in two runs. Junior Karmyna Becerra hit a crucial three-run home run in game two, helping to put the T-Birds within striking distance.
Junior Keimon Winston started game one and got the loss. Sophomore Delaney Baker kept the Thunderbirds in game two, pitching four strong innings while allowing five hits and two runs and striking out three batters. Freshman Emily Delgado pitched two innings, giving up just three hits and holding on for the win.

Game 1 Summary
Seattle U quickly took the lead in the 1st inning when Fitch homered, bringing in three runs, with Morris and Frankenberger also scoring. However, Southern Utah responded with Arianna Ramirez's single, bringing Emily Gonzalez home, and Kassidy Munoz's single down the rightfield line, scoring Ariyana Miranda.
Seattle U extended its lead in the second inning with multiple runs, including hits from Morris, Fitch, and Frankenberger. However, Southern Utah didn't give up, scoring again in the third inning with Munoz's single and Miranda Lopez's double.
The game continued, with Seattle U maintaining its lead. With hits from Morris and Walling, Seattle U added more runs in the fourth inning. Ultimately, Seattle U secured a victory with a final score of 16-4.
Game 2 Summary
The game started with Southern Utah taking an early lead in the third inning. Ariyana Miranda's single brought Becerra home, and Laurie Cooke scored an unearned run, putting Southern Utah ahead 1-0.
Seattle University responded in the 4th inning when Sin's sacrifice fly brought Fitch home, tying the game at 1-1. They then surged ahead with Garcia's RBI single, scoring Kissling and taking a 2-1 lead.
In the 5th inning, Seattle University extended their lead with Morris and Fitch adding RBI hits, bringing the score to 4-1. Sin's single increased their lead to 5-1.
Southern Utah staged a remarkable comeback in the bottom of the 5th. Karmyna Becerra stepped to the plate and delivered a powerful three-run home run, closing the gap to 5-4.
In the sixth inning, Southern Utah sealed its victory. Ariyana Miranda's clutch home run brought in three more runs, propelling Southern Utah to a 7-5 lead. Despite a pair of hits, freshman Emily Delgado sealed the win with some impressive pitching in the top of the seventh.

The Thunderbirds will wrap up the week by taking on Seattle University in a single game on Saturday, April 13, at noon MT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
