CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- SUU Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Steven Lindquist has been promoted to Associate Head Coach after an impressive four-year stretch.
Quotes from Head Coach Kai Edwards
"Steven came here and worked his way up the ladder every year by giving his all to the student-athlete experience. He has been responsible for the goalkeepers and defensive backs and has added the recruiting coordinator to his responsibilities. Getting the necessary results at the end of last season to make the conference tournament was largely from his planning, keeping the team on task, and managing the journey for the team. He challenges me in thought and also supports the final choice. Steven is well deserving of this promotion."
Lindquist joined the Thunderbirds as a volunteer assistant ahead of the 2021 season and was promoted to assistant coach after just one season.
In his first season as an assistant, he helped the Thunderbirds to their most successful season in history, setting a record for most consecutive wins (5) and finishing with a 9-6-2 record.
Last season, he was instrumental in the first conference tournament appearance in 15 years. In his work with the goalkeepers, he has also set records in most shutouts in a season (8) and most shutouts by a single player (Megan Short, 6)
