CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- As the Southern Utah University soccer program prepares to kick off a new season, Thunderbirds fans will notice more than just new faces on the sidelines. A series of significant facility enhancements, combined with the elevation of first-year head coach Steven Lindquist, signal an exciting new chapter for the program.
Head Coach Steven Lindquist said
"We are extremely excited for the facility upgrades this year. Not only does it elevate the student-athlete experience, but it also enhances the fan and viewer experience as well. The new facilities will positively impact our training, our matchday experience, and our ability to recruit outstanding players to Southern Utah. It's an exciting time to be a Thunderbird."
Throughout the offseason, the women's soccer facilities have undergone several upgrades designed to enhance both the student-athlete experience and the game-day atmosphere at The Thunderbird Soccer Field.
Among the improvements is the installation of brand-new Olympic-style soccer goals, giving the program a premier competition setup that meets the highest standards of the game. Fans will also be welcomed by a new scoreboard, providing an upgraded viewing experience throughout the season.

The field itself has received several aesthetic and functional improvements as well. A new windscreen now lines the perimeter fencing, creating a cleaner look while helping reduce wind interference around the pitch. New covered team benches provide players and coaches with increased comfort and protection throughout training and matches.
Behind the scenes, the program has also invested in player development with the addition of a permanent high-definition camera system. The new setup will allow coaches to film every practice and match from an elevated angle, providing valuable video for tactical analysis, player evaluation, scouting, and recruiting.
The facility improvements coincide with the beginning of a new era under Lindquist, who takes over as head coach after serving on the Thunderbirds coaching staff in previous seasons. His familiarity with the program, combined with the upgraded facilities, provides a strong foundation as Southern Utah begins its return to the Big Sky Conference.
