BOISE, IDAHO -- The Thunderbirds played the Broncos well through 45 minutes but could not keep up in the second half and ultimately lost to Boise State, 3-0. SUU falls to 1-5-2 on the season.
Head Coach Kai Edwards said
"Tough loss on the road. Anyone who watched the game especially the first half, can be very proud of this squad. Boise made us pay for two mental lapses. I felt we had some very good performances and the group was all in but a loss is a loss. We have two Big Sky opponents coming up and we are excited to play at home Thursday."
Game Recap
The Thunderbirds were under siege for nearly the entire game, but some stellar play from Darya Mosallaei kept the score 0-0 through 45 minutes. Mosallaei recorded six saves in the first half.
Just four minutes into the second half, Carly Cross found the ball on her foot after a quality ball in on a free-kick set-piece, and Mosallaei never had a chance at it, and the Broncos broke the 0-0 tie.
Just three minutes later, a wild bouncing through-ball ended up in the possession of Avery McBride, and she gave BSU a two-goal lead.
A foul in the box by the Thunderbirds meant a penalty kick for BSU, and Avery McBride netted her second goal of the day, with a final score of 3-0.
