ST. GEORGE, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team needed a win on Sunday night in St. George, Utah, in order to make it to the WAC Postseason Tournament. Unfortunately, the Trailblazers proved too much for the Thunderbirds and SUU's season came to a close.

The Trailblazers started the scoring early with Lacy Fox dribbling through SUU defenders and ripping one past Jazmyn Brass to take a 1-0 lead just three minutes in.
The Thunderbirds answered back almost immediately on an unbelievable deep shot from Avery Kyle that the Utah Tech goalkeeper never had a chance at.Â
In the 29th minut,e the Trailblazers netted another goal and then just four minutes later another. With the score 3-1, Sarah Assumma was fouled in the box and earned a penalty kick that Aubrie Labno sent just wide and off the post.Â
In the 37th minute, Lataya Brost found the back of the net, and at the half, the Thunderbirds trailed 4-1.
The Thunderbirds did all they could to climb back into the game, but the Trailblazers did a quality job capitalizing on their opportunities and ultimately came away with an 8-1 victory.
Statistical Recap
The Thunderbirds tallied 16 shots, including eight shots on goal. Whitney Gardner led the team with five shots and two shots on target. Kayleigh Acree had three shots and two landed on frame.
Jazmyn Brass and Esme Barnes combined in goal to account for nine saves on the match.
Senior Aubrey Murray led the team in minutes played like she has so many times throughout her storied Southern Utah career.
SUU finishes the year with a 3-12-3 record overall and a 2-7-1 record in conference play.
