CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah's Daniel King has been named the United Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his standout performance in the Thunderbirds' 33–17 victory over No. 22 Austin Peay on Saturday night.

"Danny has been consistent for us all season, but Saturday, he took it to another level. His ability to flip the field and hit from deep gave us a huge edge in a big win."
King was a major difference-maker in the win, excelling in every aspect of the kicking game. He went a perfect two-for-two on field goals, connecting on kicks from 43 and 52 yards—the latter tying him for second-longest in Southern Utah program history.
Beyond his scoring contributions, King was pivotal in controlling field position. He pinned the Governors inside their own 20-yard line twice on punts, and his powerful kickoffs kept Austin Peay's return game in check, recording five touchbacks and allowing just one return for 16 yards. Altogether, King launched the ball nearly 700 yards between field goals, punts, and kickoffs.
This marks the third consecutive week that a Thunderbird has earned one of the UAC's weekly honors and the sixth time this season overall. Southern Utah joins West Georgia as the only programs in the conference to have earned all four types of UAC weekly awards—Offensive, Defensive, Special Teams, and Freshman.
