CEDAR CITY, Utah - Junior Ava Uhrich and sophomore Sierra Chambers delivered the gift of entertaining basketball to fans of the Southern Utah women's basketball team this holiday weekend. Putting on a show in Los Angeles, Calif., their impressive performances earned them selections to the LMU Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team.
Uhrich's back-to-back season-highs in scoring garnered Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors, in addition to the title of LMU Christmas Classic Most Valuable Player.

"Ava was tremendous in both games this weekend. I'm super proud of her performance. She was a true leader for us, and came up huge on both ends of the floor. I'm excited to see her build off of these two games as we head into conference play."
Nearly halfway through her third season as a member of the Thunderbirds, Uhrich has become a staple of SUU basketball. She poured in an impressive total of 49 points on an accurate 67.9 % rate from the field between a dominant 80-47 win over the Omaha Mavericks and a tight 76-86 loss to the hosting Loyola Marymount Lions.
In the Saturday win, Uhrich added four rebounds and three assists to her 23-point outing. On Sunday, she broke her season high for points again with 26, also contributing eight rebounds and tying her career-high with six assists.
Sierra Chambers also pieced together an excellent weekend to earn an all-tournament bid of her own. Against the Mavericks, Chambers tied her career-high of seven assists, chipping in seven points. Attempting to pull off a comeback over the Lions, she totalled 20 points on an afternoon where she knocked down 50% of her shots.
