Game Recap
First Half
Other than an early triple from freshman Devyn Kiernan, Southern Utah got off to a slow start. The Trailblazers capitalized with a 14-0 run, but the Thunderbirds quickly started their comeback by racking up 11 points in the final three minutes of the 23-16 quarter.
SUU carried its momentum into the second quarter, countering Utah Tech's opening triple with an 8-0 run that included four free throws from Chambers. Despite the Trailblazers eventually regaining their scoring rhythm, Southern Utah's continued output, including a tide-turning three from Doman, cut the Utah Tech lead to 39-38 at the half.
Second Half
Uhrich drained back-to-back buckets to steal the advantage in the second half. Bunkering down defensively and keeping the offense scorching, the Thunderbirds entered a 17-2 run. Chambers and Kiernan added triples to their totals and contributed to a newfound 60-45 SUU lead.
As they entered the final quarter, Southern Utah refused to take its foot off the gas. Multiple scores from junior Charli Kay boosted the Thunderbirds to a 20-point advantage, and sophomore Denver Anderson teamed up with junior Morgan Trigueiro to put down a pair of three-pointers as icing on the cake. SUU closed out the 78-60 game in triumphant fashion.
