Game Recap

SUU didn't get its first win until the 15:24 mark of the first half on a second-chance putback by Simpson that was the first of 12 first-half points from Jamir.

A jumper from Brock Felder gave the Thunderbirds its first lead in the game at the 8:02 mark in the first half. Hercy Miller knocked down a triple off of an inbounds play and then got a steal and elevated for an impressive jam, and the lead was suddenly eight points for the Thunderbirds.

A three-quarter court heave from Jamir Simpson was waived off to end the first half, and the T-Birds went into the break with a 33-27 lead.

Miller knocked down a deep triple to push the lead to 11 early in the second half, and CBU took a timeout to regroup and immediately went on a 5-0 run.

The final minute of regulation was wild. Javonte Johnson knocked down a corner triple to cut the SUU lead to just one with 49 seconds remaining. Simpson then turned the ball over and fouled Adam Moussa on the drive, but Moussa missed both free throws. Simpson was then fouled and put at the line, and he made the first free throw but missed the second, and Brock Felder made the play of the game, securing the offensive rebound and an SUU win.

Thunderbirds improve to 10-13, matching their season win total from a year ago, and 2-7 in conference play.
