Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Parker Haynie- Assistant Director of Communications

Thunderbirds Struggle Offensively At No. 1 Ranked Utah Valley

OREM, UTAH -- SUU Men's Basketball traveled to Orem to take on the top-ranked team in the WAC in Utah Valley. The team struggled to find an offensive rhythm early on and was unable to bounce back, ultimately falling 100-59.

Head Coach Rob Jeter said

"That is a really good team, and we didn't play our best today. They forced us to take tough shots all game long, and we didn't do the same thing to them. We are going to have to regroup and find a way to finish the regular season on a positive note next week."

Top T-Birds

  • Brock Felder led SUU with 11 points to go along with his team-high seven rebounds. He also had two blocks and two assists.
  • Jeffrey (JT) Langston Jr wasn't far behind, scoring 10 points and corraling five rebounds.
  • Cade Brazier came in and knocked the team's first two triples of the game on his way to scoring eight points.

Game Recap

After two near losses in their last two games, the Wolverines came out with a lot of energy, also looking to go undefeated on the year on their home floor. Utah Valley held SUU without a field goal for the first five and a half minutes of the game, and by that point, it was an 11-4 lead for the Wolverines.

A layup from Corey Wells at the 10:00 mark and UVU's lead was 17. And then a 7-0 run followed not long after, and the lead was 25 for the Wolverines.

The Thunderbirds shot just 7-27 from the field in the first half and 0-8 from three. Dominique Ford and Jamir Simpson were bottled up, shooting 2-12 from the field.

After leading by 28 at the break, Tanner Toolson for Utah Valley hit a three-pointer on the first possession of the second half, and the Thunderbirds could just never sustain a run.

Senior walk-on Cade Brazier entered the game around the 12-minute mark and was the first Thunderbird to make a three-point try. Just a possession later, he hit another one.

Peter Dadson Jr. made a layup with four seconds remaining, putting the final score at 59-100.
