CEDAR CITY, UTAH -- The SUU Women's Soccer team fell to 0-5-2 on the season following a 2-0 loss to the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on Friday evening.

The Thunderbirds started the game on the attack, creating a quality scoring chance just a few minutes into the game. A shot from Whitney Gardner was saved by NAU at the four-minute mark.
The teams exchanged a few more shots before NAU finally broke the 0-0 tie on a goal from Micala Boex off a through ball from Kristen Puels in the 33rd minute of the match. The score remained 1-0 Lumberjacks til the halftime break.
The second half started the exact same for the Thunderbirds, with Gardner breaking free and NAU goalkeeper Reece Reichwald making a save with her face.
Shortly after Gardner's shot attempt, the Lumberjacks ran a perfect give-and-go that led to a Lily Nesland goal with an assist from Avery Ott and Boex.
SUU created some more chances down the stretch, but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Aubrie Labno was given a red card in the 78th minute and will have to sit out SUU's next match.
Statistical Recap
Gardner led the Thunderbirds with both her shot attempts landing on target, while Sarah Assumma and Aubrey Murray both had one shot on goal.
The Thunderbirds had eight total shot attempts, and six of them were on target.
Aubrey Murray logged the most minutes of any field player, playing 86 of 90.
Jazmyn Brass recorded three saves on eight total shots.
