CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah women's basketball team will close up their first lap of the Western Athletic Conference with a road battle against Abilene Christian University on Saturday, Jan. 17 at noon in Moody Coliseum.
Head Coach Tracy Mason said:
"We're looking to put our last game behind us with a competitive performance tomorrow. Abilene Christian is a very talented team, so we'll have to be more consistent on defense and fight for every possession offensively."

Matchup History
- Southern Utah holds a 2-3 all-time record against the Wildcats, having won their last matchup in an extremely defensive 49-46 game. Uhrich locked down nine rebounds and two blocks during the contest.
The Thunderbirds
After a 3-0 start to conference play, the Thunderbirds have struggled in their last two games and dropped to a 3-2 WAC record. Southern Utah now stands at 11-6 overall and will utilize their "next play mentality" as they attempt to bounce back against Abilene Christian.
Offensively, Southern Utah has been exceptional, raking in 75.7 points-scored. They've also dominated the boards with 43.6 rebounds per contest and moved the ball efficiently with 15.6 assists per game.
Leading the scoring effort, sophomore Sierra Chambers averages 15.9 points and a team-high 3.6 assists. Adding a strong veteran presence, junior Ava Uhrich has emerged as an incredible paint presence since starting WAC play, averaging 13.2 rebounds per conference game. She has seven double-doubles and 15 or more rebounds in each of her last three games.
Scouting Report
Abilene Christian University Wildcats
With a win over the previously undefeated California Baptist Lancers, Abilene Christian has emerged as one of the WAC's top contenders, surpassing Southern Utah for the second-place spot. They hold a 4-1 WAC record and a conference-best 13-5 overall record.
The Wildcats have been incredibly impressive on both sides of the ball. They average 74.6 points-scored and 57.9 points-allowed, holding an outstanding 16.7-point scoring margin. With 24.1 ACU points off turnovers per game, the Thunderbirds must maintain strong ball control to slow down the Wildcats.
Junior Payton Hull is the only player in the conference averaging more than Chambers, logging 16.8 points per game. Two other Wildcats average more than 14 points per game, presenting a dangerously balanced attack.
