CEDAR CITY, Utah - The 14-7 Southern Utah women's basketball team looks to extend its three-game winning streak against a touted 15-5 Abilene Christian University team. The highly anticipated showdown between the top Western Athletic Conference competitors will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the America First Event Center.
Head Coach Tracy Mason said:
"We're excited to be at home for our second game against ACU. I don't think we gave our best effort at their place during our last matchup, so we want to flip the script this time and be much more competitive. Abilene Christian is a great team, so we'll have to be on top of our game and locked in on Saturday."

Matchup History
- In Southern Utah's first matchup with ACU this year, the Wildcats took advantage of a tumultuous SUU stretch for an 82-54 win. Despite the loss, junior Brooklyn Fely logged an impressive game, recording 18 points on 63.6% shooting from the field.
The Thunderbirds
Following a tough stretch that ended with a loss to Abilene Christian, Southern Utah has corrected course with three straight wins and now stands at 6-3 in conference play. They enter their matchup with the Wildcats following a fast-paced 77-68 win over UT Arlington, in which they returned to their high-scoring offensive form.
The Thunderbirds' offense has been among the strongest in the WAC, averaging 73.5 points per game and 15 assists, but their dominance in the paint has set them apart. SUU averages 42.9 boards per game and, with Fely, junior Ava Uhrich, and sophomore Kortney Doman, has recorded more double-doubles than any team in the conference.
While Uhrich barely missed her double-double mark on Thursday due to a nine-rebound night, she rained down a career-high 30 points. She averages 13.8 points and 10.2 rebounds, balancing out a hefty 15.2 points per game and 3.6 assists per game from sophomore Sierra Chambers.
Scouting Report
Abilene Christian University Wildcats
The 15-5 Wildcats have tipped off to an incredible 6-1 tear through WAC play. Abilene Christian's only loss came in a tight 69-67 loss to Utah Valley on the road.
The Wildcats have been incredibly impressive on both sides of the ball. They average 74 points scored and 57.1 points allowed, holding an outstanding 16.9-point scoring margin. With 23.9 ACU points off turnovers per game, the Thunderbirds must maintain strong ball control to slow down the Wildcats.
With 16.7 points per game, junior Payton Hull is the highest-scoring player in the WAC. Two other Wildcats average more than 14 points per game, and four starters have recorded more than 30 steals, creating a balanced attack on both ends of the court.
