CEDAR CITY, Utah - With a 78-67 win on Feb. 14, the Southern Utah women's basketball team completed a three-game sweep of Western Athletic Conference opponent UT Arlington. The Valentine's Day victory pushes the Thunderbirds to a 17-9 overall record and a 9-4 conference record, while the Mavericks drop to 10-15 overall with a 4-9 record in WAC play.

- Sophomore Sierra Chambers racked up 23 points on 53.8% shooting from the field and chipped in five assists.
- In her ninth double-double of the season, junior Brooklyn Fely brought down 11 boards to go with her 17 points. She shot at an extremely accurate 75% rate from the floor.
- Rounding out the potent scoring attack, sophomore Kortney Doman and freshman Devyn Kiernan each added 12 points. Kiernan made four of her five shots from the perimeter.

First Half
Southern Utah utilized a well-rounded scoring attack to start the game, with four different Thunderbirds adding baskets on a 9-2 run. Although the Mavericks recovered quickly, three first-quarter triples from freshman Devyn Kiernan kept SUU ahead 20-17.
After sophomore Sierra Chambers cashed in on a pair of early second-quarter jumpers, junior Morgan Trigueiro knocked down a three-pointer to earn a double-digit lead. However, UT Arlington battled back to a 36-30 deficit in a foul-heavy close to the first half.
Second Half
A 7-0 run by the Mavericks early in the third quarter made for a one-score game, but a huge triple from Chambers helped the Thunderbirds regain their momentum. Sophomore Kortney Doman beat the buzzer to put her team up 51-47 with a quarter to go.
SUU burst away on a massive scoring spree in the fourth, including multiple buckets from Chambers and Doman that sandwiched an arcing fourth three-pointer from Kiernan. Down by 13 now, the Mavericks mounted a comeback to cut it to a two-score game.
With the clock under a minute, Chambers drove underneath to the hoop for a critical layup, forcing UTA to start fouling. Chambers capitalized with a pair of free throws, and the Thunderbirds sent the Mavericks packing 78-67.
